On graduating from Malnad School of Architecture, Karun Kumbera worked and collaborated with various architects as well as practiced in his own capacity in India. He later studied Urbanism and Urban architecture in France, at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville and École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-La Villette respectively. After his studies, he continued to work in Paris, with various architecture and urbanism offices on the topics of micro-urbanism and urban ecology before establishing KKAU in 2008 at Bangalore.
KKAU functions with the rationale that, all aspects of human living are interconnected, ie the elements that constitute a space, a community of spaces that constitute a building, the building participating in the morphology of the street and the network of streets which forms the city. KKAU operates on but not limited to Architecture, Interiors, Renovation and refurbishment, master planning and construction. KKAU strive to find a sustainable equilibrium between the physical milieu generated by human needs and the environment.
